# Quickstart

> Make an API key and get Microsoft's revenue by business segment in one call.

**1. Make an API key**

Sign in at [numi.sh/account](https://numi.sh/account). Choose **Create key**. When the key appears, copy it: the page shows the key only once. Every account starts on the sandbox plan, and with a sandbox key you can read 10 companies, Microsoft among them. See [plans](https://docs.numi.sh/plans.md#the-sandbox).

**2. Make a call**

Ask for the business segments of Microsoft's latest annual report:

```bash theme={null}
curl "https://api.numi.sh/v1/companies/MSFT/segments?axis=business" \
  -H "X-API-Key: $NUMI_API_KEY"
```

**3. Read the response**

The response has the company in `company`, the filing in `filing`, and each axis with its rows in `axes`:

```json theme={null}
}
```

The three segments add up to the \$331,839 million of revenue that the filing reports, so `coverage_ratio` is `1` and `reconciliation` is `reconciled`.

## Next

* To get every axis of the filing, each as its own list, remove `axis` from the request. To get one other axis, set `axis=product` or `axis=geography`.
* Get the line items of the same filing from `/v1/companies/MSFT/fundamentals`. See [fundamentals](https://docs.numi.sh/fundamentals.md).
* Connect an agent to the [MCP server](https://docs.numi.sh/mcp-server.md).
* Download every table from the [bulk files](https://docs.numi.sh/bulk.md).
