# Can I use SEC filing data in a product I sell?

> Yes. SEC filings are public information, and on every numi plan you can use numi data on a public site, in a paid app or in a model, with no credit.

Yes. The SEC's [website policy](https://www.sec.gov/privacy) says that information presented on sec.gov "is considered public information and may be copied or further distributed by users of the web site without the SEC's permission", so you can use the filings themselves in anything you sell. The SEC asks you to consider citing it as the source. Data from a vendor comes under the vendor's licence, and at many vendors the entry tier is for personal use only ([what each kind of source gives you](https://docs.numi.sh/guides/what-each-kind-of-source-gives-you.md)).

On every numi plan, the free sandbox included, you can show numi data on a public site, put it in an app you charge for, and give it to a model or an agent that is part of your product, with no credit line. You may not resell the bulk file, or a substantial part of it, as a dataset. This is the licence, word for word, as the [terms of service](https://numi.sh/terms) state it:

> On every plan, the free one included, Nui Systems L.L.C. grants you a non-exclusive commercial licence to use, display and redistribute numi data inside your own products and analyses, with no attribution required. You may not resell the bulk file, or a substantial part of it, as a dataset.

## What you can build

| You build | Allowed | What to know |
| - | - | - |
| A public website, a dashboard or a newsletter chart with revenue by segment | Yes | You do not need to credit numi |
| A paid app, a report or a financial model that your customers see | Yes | On both plans, the sandbox included |
| A model or an agent that is part of your product | Yes | The data stays inside your product: the model or agent uses it to answer your users |
| The bulk file, or a substantial part of it, offered for resale as a dataset | No | If you are not sure whether an export in your product counts, ask [hello@numi.sh](mailto:hello@numi.sh) before you ship it |

## Which plan

Both plans have the same licence. The sandbox is free for 10 companies, so you can build and ship against them before you pay. Builder, at \$19 a month plus local tax, has every company and the full set of bulk files. See [plans](https://docs.numi.sh/plans.md).

## A licence letter or an invoice

If a customer, your lawyer or your finance team needs the licence in writing, write to [hello@numi.sh](mailto:hello@numi.sh) for a licence letter. Write to the same address for an invoice or a longer term.

## What the licence does not promise

The figures come from public SEC filings, and numi extracts them automatically, so a figure can be wrong. The data comes with no warranty that it is accurate, complete or current, and it is not investment advice. The [licensing](https://docs.numi.sh/licensing.md) page has the full text, and the [terms of service](https://numi.sh/terms) are the binding text.
